RAW VEGAN DATE AND WALNUT BALLS
These are so good that I make them each week without fail.
I just simply can’t get enough of them!
Plus they’re healthy for you too! So whilst you’re beating that chocolate craving you’re also eating your way to a healthy heart, preventing constipation, increasing bone health and giving yourself a natural energy boost just from the dates alone!
The walnuts are high in protein, vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids, trace minerals, lecithin and oils. They lower your cholesterol, decreasing your risk of heart disease and are also good for your brain and hair which are just three more reasons to whip these babies up.
As you can see I’ve added a few extra ingredients to create some variety. My dad loves the balls with a whole walnut on top but you can honestly add anything!
I simply rolled those three above in some left over crushed walnuts and the ones below are just rolled in more cocoa.
These are the ones I make each week as they are the balls on their own. However if you want to make some for your friends or family, impress them by getting creative!
The below balls are rolled in shredded coconut.
The ones in the centre have one goji berry in the middle.
- I cup pitted dates
- 2 cups raw walnuts (you can use more or less)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (or cacao if you’d prefer)
- Mix all ingredients in a blender
- Add a tablespoon of water here and there if needed to help the ingredients combine
- Scoop and roll mixture into balls
- Cool in fridge
I like to make mine small and bite size (maybe about 2 cm in diameter) which are about 80 calories each.
